This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Dalali Properties (the "Platform", "we") collects, why, who we share it with and how long we keep it. We follow the Personal Data Protection Act, 2022 of the United Republic of Tanzania.
1. Information we collect
People looking for property
- What you type in an enquiry or viewing request: your name, phone or WhatsApp number, email (optional), budget, message and preferred viewing date, plus the property you asked about.
- If you rent or buy through an agent: the details written in your agreement (name, phone, NIDA number if given, amounts and dates), your on-screen signature, and your witness's name and phone if you add one.
Agents
- Name, WhatsApp phone number, email (optional), password (stored encrypted, never readable), profile photo, bio, areas served and social media links.
- Landlord details you enter for your listings (name, phone, NIDA number if given), your listings, leads, viewings, deals and agreements.
- Payments: the mobile money number used, amount, purpose and the Selcom reference. We never see or store your mobile money PIN.
Everyone
- Basic technical data: IP address and browser type in server logs, and small cookies that keep you signed in and remember your language.
2. How we use it
- To pass your enquiry to the agent who posted the property and let them contact you.
- To run agent accounts: listings, leads, levels, agreements, fees and in-app notifications.
- To process payments through Selcom and keep accounting records.
- To prevent fraud: checking reports, limiting listings per agent and reviewing suspicious activity.
- To improve the Platform and keep it secure.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
3. Who we share it with
- The agent who posted the property you enquire about, and the office, which sees all enquiries to connect clients with agents.
- Selcom, our payment provider, to process mobile money payments.
- WhatsApp, only when you choose to open a WhatsApp chat. WhatsApp's own privacy policy applies there.
- Our hosting and technology provider (Dragonfinity Systems), which runs the Platform on our behalf.
- Authorities, when the law requires it or to protect people from fraud.
4. What is public
- Listings: photos, price, location, features and description.
- Agents' name, photo, bio, areas served, social links and level on their listings and share page. Gold agents' profiles appear on the homepage without contact details.
- Landlord and client details are never public. Agreements are only visible to the agent, the office and whoever the agent sends the private link to.
5. How long we keep it
- Enquiries, client details and agreements: deleted after 2 years.
- Listings: removed 30 days after going live, or shortly after being rented or sold.
- Inactive agents: after 2 months without activity, the account is deactivated and its listings, landlords, leads and agreements (including signatures) are permanently deleted.
- Payment records: kept as long as required for accounting and tax.
- Signatures and documents are deleted together with their agreement.
6. Security
The Platform uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Passwords are stored encrypted. Signatures and documents are kept in private storage that is not reachable from the internet, and each agent can only see their own records. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your password private and tell us straight away if you suspect misuse.
7. Your rights
You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it or stop using it for a purpose, subject to what the law requires us to keep. Agents can update most of their details in My profile. For anything else, contact the office. We will reply within 30 days.
8. Cookies and the app
We only use cookies that the Platform needs to work (sign-in, security and language). If you install the app on your phone, it stores pages you have visited so they open on a weak connection, and it may show the number of unread notifications on its icon. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
9. Children
The Platform is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
